Chanukah Lights Hand Embellished Giclee

Chanukah Lights Hand Embellished Giclee

In this painting, I wanted to capture one of the most intimate and powerful moments of Chanukah—the quiet glow of the menorah against the darkness of night, and the deep sense of emunah that rises from that light. I painted a lone man bending toward his flames, shielding them gently with his hands, fully absorbed in the mitzvah. His posture holds a kind of reverence that has always moved me: the way we lean into our traditions, into our history, into Hashem’s light.

The deep blues and purples surrounding him convey the cold and quiet of the night, while the warm, flickering glow of the flames brings life to the scene, illuminating both his face and the ancient stones around him. That contrast—light pushing through darkness—is at the heart of Chanukah, and at the heart of so much of my work.

As in the themes throughout my art, I wanted this piece to express our connection to Hashem, our continuity, and our unbreakable spirit. The scene feels timeless, echoing generations of Jews who have bent over their lights in doorways, windows, and alleyways, keeping the flame alive through every chapter of our story.

For me, Chanukah Lights is about more than a ritual moment. It is about the endurance of hope, the sanctity within everyday actions, and the way even a small flame can illuminate an entire world. I hope it brings that same warmth and inspiration to all who see it.
