“Lag Ba’Omer” is a celebration of joy, light, and the way Jewish tradition brings us together across generations. When I created this painting, I wanted to capture the essence of the Lag Ba’Omer fire — not just its physical glow, but the spiritual warmth it represents. The flames rise in vibrant colors and abstract strokes, echoing both the energy of the moment and the deeper light that this day carries.

In the foreground, the children dance in a circle, their faces lit by the fire and filled with pure, unfiltered simchah. Some are held on their fathers’ shoulders, rising above the crowd the way our children rise on the shoulders of our mesorah. Behind them, the men join hands and dance around the fire, their movements steady and unified. I painted their forms with expressive strokes to convey that this is not just physical celebration — it’s spiritual uplift, a dance that connects earth and heaven.

The fire itself is central. Its colors shift from deep purples to electric blues to glowing golds, because to me, the flames of Lag Ba’Omer are not simply orange and red — they are alive with meaning. They symbolize the light of Torah, the fire of Rabi Shimon bar Yochai, and the inner flame that exists within every Jew. I wanted the painting to express that sense of elevating the physical into the spiritual, a belief at the heart of my work.
