Roots of Jerusalem Hand Embellished Giclee

This painting is about rootedness, journey, and quiet connection.

At the foreground stands a tree on the outskirts of Jerusalem — grounded, weathered, and alive with movement. Its roots grip the land with strength, while its branches reach outward and upward. For me, the tree represents continuity: the way growth begins deep below the surface, long before it is visible.

A winding path leads from the base of the tree toward Jerusalem in the distance. The city is present, but softened — not demanding attention, yet unmistakable. It reflects the way Jerusalem lives in our consciousness: always there, guiding us, even when we stand at the edges.

This is one of my most highly textured works. The surface is built up with layered movement, allowing the painting to feel tactile and alive. I incorporated 24k gold leaf, mica pearl flakes, and genuine diamonds throughout the canvas. These materials catch the light gently, creating a soft luminosity that shifts as the environment changes, adding depth without overpowering the calm of the scene.

The palette remains neutral, but with subtle warmth and color woven through — enough to give the painting a sense of life and breath. The overall feeling is meant to be peaceful and grounding, inviting the viewer to slow down and rest within the landscape.

This work reflects the idea that Jerusalem is not only a destination, but a source — something we grow from and move toward at the same time. It is a reminder that even when we stand at a distance, our roots remain deeply connected, and the path home is always present.
